Wimbart founder named in UK’s PR Power list
Wimbart PR founder and Managing Director, Jessica Hope, has been named as one of the UK’s leading communications professionals, having been recognised for her work in the African market. She is the only professional from an Africa-focussed agency to make PRWeek’s UK Powerbook 2019, the definitive list of the UK’s top public relations practitioners.
Hope has over 13 years’ experience in PR and carved a niche in the pan-African technology market, after heading up global comms for IROKO for 3.5 years. She launched Wimbart in 2015, to meet the growing demand of tech start-ups and entrepreneurs looking to build their presence both locally and internationally.
In recent months, Wimbart has recorded significant growth, adding three new members to its now six-person team and expanding into larger Central London offices. The agency has also recorded a strong start to 2019, securing a number of new client wins.
On the news of being listed in the PRWeek Powerbook, Jessica Hope says, “Joining the PR industry heavyweights on this list is a tremendous honour. As a small agency that focuses on the pan-African market, it’s really something special to be recognised for the strong work we are doing to support African business at Wimbart. We are a small and super-niche agency in the UK, but we consistently punch above our weight in terms of securing impactful coverage for our clients.
“We work with some of Africa’s most dynamic and innovative start-up CEOs; we take our lead, our inspiration and a sprinkling of hustle from them, and we hope to continue to be a meaningful part of the African tech narrative”.
Hope is also an active mentor, supporting UK-based rising public relations stars as part of the BME PR Pros initiative, as well as providing mentorship to the 2018 Google Launchpad Africa cohort in Lagos, Nigeria.
John Harrington, deputy editor of PRWeek UK, added, “When we select entrants, we’re really looking to understand their thoughts on some of the top issues in the sector and how they’ve navigated specific challenges over the last 12 months. Jessica’s profile was a real testament to this and her achievements with the rest of the Wimbart team really shone through – we wish them all the best in the future.”
